Top 10 Places To Eat In Bude

Bude is a hub for delicious food, and with the annual Bude for Food festival on Friday 18th – Sunday 20th of September to celebrate Bude’s foodie coastline, we have pulled together some of the best places to dine during your stay with us in North Cornwall. So in no particular order, here are our top 10 absolute favourites…

 

1. The Weir

Roughly a five minute drive from Bude, or a twenty to thirty minute walk along the canal path, is local’s favourite The Weir. In a stunning location overlooking a lake, this spot is ideal for a sunny day. They serve fresh seasonal produce with delicious specials every week.

2. The Bay View

For amazing pub food visit The Bay View, which is staff favourite over at Bude Holiday Resort. They’re known for their massive portions fit to fill your stomach after a long day at the beach, with highlights on their menu including the Big Bad Boy Bay View Burger, their Famous Homemade Fish Pie and Wild Mushroom Risotto. Sun’s out? Why not dine alfresco looking out across the beautiful North coast.

3. Tommy Jacks

At Crooklets beach you will find Tommy Jacks, serving locally-landed fish, Mexican-style burritos, stone-baked pizzas and grilled burgers. With a modern and laid back surfer vibe, this place has the perfect atmosphere to refuel after a long day at the beach.

4. The Preston Gate Inn

One of Bude’s best pubs, The Preston Gate Inn has a great selection of real ales, lagers, ciders and wine. Enjoy your drink in the traditional relaxed atmosphere of The Preston Gate, with fish and chips for £5 every Friday lunchtime, Sunday roasts, jam sessions on the last Sunday of the month and live music on Fridays.

5. Cornish Ice Cream Cafe

Located in the centre of town, get your ice cream fix at the Cornish Ice Cream Cafe. Choose from a wide array of different flavours, including coconut, salted caramel, Cornish cream tea, liquorice, lemon curd or classic clotted cream vanilla. Or you can try your favourite flavour in a Cornish ice cream milkshake! We recommend you indulge and try their incredible Belgium waffles, topped with ice cream, chocolate sauce and strawberries, or pancakes with ice cream and maple syrup.

6. Life’s A Beach

With an unrivalled location overlooking Bude’s Summerleaze Beach, Life’s A Beach is Bude’s premier seafood restaurant. Enjoy fresh crab bisque, salt baked sea bream, pan fried hake or tiger prawn and monkfish curry whilst the sun sets on the veranda for a perfect romantic evening meal. If you’re struggling to decide where to dine, Life’s A Beach is definitely high up there on our recommendations.

7. Rosie’s Kitchen

Rosie’s Kitchen is a family-run bustling beachside café situated right on Crooklet’s surfing beach. Taste the award winning artisan ice cream and sorbets from Gerry’s Original ice cream company on the sun deck overlooking the Atlantic ocean, or sample their delicious family-friendly menu in the modern Cornish diner.

8. Beach House Hotel & Restaurant

Near Widemouth Bay is The Beach House, a panoramic restaurant bar overlooking the bay. With an exciting contemporary menu of international flavours and French-inspired cuisine from chef Mark Callaby, The Beach House is an up and coming venue on our list of restaurants in Bude.

Within Bude’s marshes you’ll find The Bank, serving up Spanish tapas and delicious cocktails. A beautiful location and quirky setting, we recommend making the journey to find this hidden gem for a big meal to share with family and friends.

10. The Tree Inn

For a traditional pub experience, visit The Tree Inn. A former manor house, The Tree Inn is one of the oldest and most historic inns in Cornwall, dating back to the 13th century. Sip on your ale beneath beams made from ships wrecked on the coast and enjoy their famous Sunday carvaeries next to the warm and welcoming woodburner. Booking in advance is recommended as this pub is a popular among locals.
